Apple has been uncharacteristically willing to admit its mistakes recently. Last week it admitted that there was a touchscreen problem with iPhone 6 and 6S, and now it’s acknowledged some 6S handsets have a battery issue. So you could be entitles to a Free Apple Battery Replacement

Users have complained that some iPhone batteries – specifically those manufactured between September and October 2015 – keep shutting down. Apple has accepted that there’s a problem and launched a program that will swap the faulty batteries for new ones.

On its website, the company writes: “Apple has determined that a very small number of iPhone 6s devices may unexpectedly shut down.

“This is not a safety issue and only affects devices within a limited serial number range that were manufactured between September and October 2015.”

It tells users to head down to their nearest Apple store or reseller, where you can have the serial number checked. If it is from the bad batch, you can get a replacement battery for free. There’s no rush – the program covers affected phones for three years after they were bought – but if you are affected by an unreliable battery, sorting the problem as soon as possible will reduce frustration. So are you entitled to a Free Apple Battery Replacement

Before you do, however, Apple recommends backing up your handset, turning off ‘Find my Phone’ and erasing all data and settings (head to General Settings to do this).
